Our Mission Statement
Through a bike reward program, a partnership with the school system and 2 years of classroom study, we inspire third and fourth grade Title 1 students to plan now for post high school education. Utilizing 3 character-building books and required essays, we deliver hope for BIG dreams that build clarity, confidence, responsibility, kindness and determination. It is our goal to overcome poverty and entitlement with the lesson, “Nothing is given, everything is earned.”
About Us
Bikes for Kids Foundation has impacted over 61,000 economically disadvantaged children since 2002. Our focus is to provide character building books and classroom instruction while rewarding the student’s reading and completed essay with a bike and helmet. With the support of sponsors from across the United States, we have impacted Title 1 students in hundreds of underserved elementary schools. It is our intention to dramatically expand our presence to every classroom in the country. We do this with thanks to the generous support of corporations and individuals seeking to serve those in need in their communities.
The children that are served by Bikes for Kids are Title 1 students. Title 1 students are from families who are struggling to live with incomes below the poverty level. We help with character building books and classroom instruction. Title I elementary schools are identified for sponsorship on the basis of the Department of Education’s School Accountability Report Card (SARC) Report and account for 67% of all elementary schools – 21 million children living in poverty in America.
Yes, this is your community.
Character Building
We select schools for character building books and instruction with at least 80% Title 1 students who qualify for free breakfast and lunch, indicating extreme need for financial and social support. It is time to take an aggressive approach to break the systemic problem of generational poverty in America. With your help, we can make a profound difference!
